About The Event
We believe that in the heart of creativity is openness, curiosity and playfulness. These are the vital traits which we must cultivate and harness to enhance our capability as actors. At Actors Academy, we believe in allowing these qualities in the young performer to shine through.
By giving our students the tools they need to harness those traits, we inspire them to grow and evolve towards creativity, gently guiding them, and giving them the essential foundation they need to flourish both personally as well as a young actor moving towards pursuing their dreams.
We aim to help the student to access and express their own creative voice and build confidence within that. You are welcome everyone as they are and there is no need for previous experience. All that is needed and requested from the student is curiosity and openness.
Youth Academy will guide you through basic Cold Reading, Voice and Movement as well as Camera Acting and Improvisation. At the end of the course, we will perform a live rehearsed Showcase for friends & family.
The teaching language in our AAF Youth Academy is English, but we encourage all level English speakers to apply.
COURSE CONTENT
-
COLD READING
Taking a scene off the page in a short time is an essential skill for any actor. This fun part will help the student to bring an unseen script to life, get it up on it's feet and build the student's faith to work simply in the moment.
-
MEISNER TECHNIQUE
The capacity for emotional intelligence and presence is a highly valued skill in today's world, not only in acting platforms but in any types of relationships and interactions. Meisner Technique helps the student to live in the moment and to access and express one's truthful impulses and feelings based on their partners behaviour, through exploration of the famous 'Repetition' and 'Independent Activity' exercises. The technique will help you to start living truthfully under created imaginary circumstances - whether on stage or screen.
-
IMPROVISATION
Improvisation is one of the core techniques in performing because it pushes the actor to live fully in the moment, trust in team work and lean on imagination and risk taking. It also enhances creativity and activates the actor's non-judgmental mentality which is essential for any kind of creative flow to happen. Improvisation is a fun way to dive into the endless possibilities of connection and the fun of performance.
-
MOVEMENT
It is all those small and big details present in how we communicate non verbally that reveal something about us, those details are seen in our body and in how we move - they become our signature. Movement is what awakens our emotions and helps us understand our relation between our bodies and emotions. Through physical and dance exercises we can learn how to use our body and be confident while activating our imagination and creativity in order to find new ways to move and achieve something, these can be achieved through exercises involving partnering work, improvisation, balance, contrabalance, limitations, or even through games! For this workshop we will work on partnering and text work, on different qualities of movement using for example, rubber bands, and lastly, on statues and stillness.
