I ONLINE I
Master the Art of Self-taping
with Dominic Kelly
January 11 - 25, 2027
Three sessions on:
Monday's 18:00 - 20:00
Space is limited.

Does your talent show in your self-tapes?
Auditions are a skill of their own, and even experienced actors can struggle to translate their talent into a compelling self-tape. You might be brilliant once you’re on set, but getting to that point means making an impression in just a few minutes, often with limited preparation time, little context and no director to guide you.
In this three-session online workshop, Dominic Kelly, one of the lead coaches of our One Year Training and our audition coach, will share practical tips and provide individual feedback to help you improve your self-tapes and approach auditions with greater confidence. With over twenty years of experience in coaching actors on film and television, Dom brings practical insight into what casting directors look for, what makes an audition stand out, and how to make the most of the opportunity you have been given.
You'll create your own self-tape and receive feedback and coaching to help you understand what works, what could be stronger and how to improve. With Dom's background in the Meisner Technique, the focus is on moving beyond overthinking and finding the freedom to respond truthfully, even under audition pressure.
The goal is to make self-taping less stressful and more creative, help you recognise what casting professionals need to see, and give your talent a better chance to come through when it matters.
SESSION OUTLINE
Session One — Tips and techniques for effective self tapes
What are casting directors actually looking for in a self-tape? Learn how to break down audition instructions, identify the essential information in a scene and prepare effectively when time is limited. Prepare a self-tape for the next session.
Session Two — Review footage with notes
Receive feedback and coaching on your self-tape, with individual notes on your performance and practical tips to help you improve. Apply the feedback as you prepare a revised self-tape for the next session.
Session Three — Review revised footage with notes
Review your revised self-tape and receive further feedback on your work. Reflect on your progress and take away useful notes to apply to future self-tapes and auditions.

This workshop is for actors at all stages of their journey, from beginners preparing their first self-tapes to trained and professional actors who want to strengthen their audition skills. You will be professionally coached at the level you are currently at.
