An authentic American accent expands your skill set and increases your castability. In order to book the role, you need to make the accent your own. 

This five week long course will focus on the practical skills of performing in accent and help you find your authentic voice. The class is designed to push you beyond the basics of the accent into advanced concepts like how to make choices, interpret genre, and improvise in an authentic American accent.

As a student of this class, you will get the opportunity to perform and receive personal feedback from US based dialect & accent coach Tina Collins.

You'll leave this course with skills that you can apply right away as well as practice techniques to continue your progress.

For actors, advanced and beginner accent students, and anyone desiring a more authentic American accent.
 

WHAT DO YOU GET

You'll walk away from this course with a deeper understanding of the General American accent and performance skills. You'll gain ease, clarity, and ownership of your authentic American sound. You'll continue to expand on a daily warm-up designed to engage the parts of your voice necessary for the General American accent.
 

This class addresses three major issues actors come upon when receiving a script which calls for American accent: 

 

1. How do I approach finding my own issues in accent?

2. What to do with an American script? 

3. How do I support my linguistic confidence?

 

We will work through several scripts: Commercial, One liner, general dialogue and a comedic dialogue. You will be able to have samples of these to show eventual managers and agents if that is your goal, or just to have a formula to continue improving your accent on your own. 

 

In between each session, you will memorize and self tape or record a reading in American accent for class review.  Don’t worry, the scripts are short and simple, and keep in mind, this is a safe environment to practice your skills! We will “workout” together! 

 

Accent work is all about practice, review, listening and copying from an original accent. 

 

Bring your worries, concerns and struggles to class and I will do my best to address each actors individual accent struggles.

Tina is a passionate and dedicated accent and dialect coach with a lifetime of experience under he belt.
Fast forward now after having a decade of experience in the film industry in China with 3-6 major productions per year as either a Dialect coach, actress, or on-set interpreter, she brings a wealth of knowledge and savvy, honed by years on international productions and months on the road.
